Specific learning difficulties (Dyscalculia)
Dyscalculia is a specific and persistent difficulty in understanding numbers which can lead to a diverse range of difficulties with mathematics. It is thought to affect around 5% of the population.
How does it affect my child?
Dyscalculic learners may have a difficulty understanding simple number concepts, lack an intuitive grasp of numbers, and have problems learning number facts and procedures. Some learners also struggle with telling the time and dealing with money. They may rely on rote learning as they lack the underlying understanding of mathematical operations.
